What & Why

A space devoted to gathering.

A dīwān was a space devoted to hosting gatherings in one’s home — for the purposes of learning, spiritual growth, and community.

At Pillars, we are committed to supporting our students in every way — including long after they finish our programs.

The Dīwān is how we hope to accomplish lifelong support and community for everyone who passes through our seminary: a permanent home for collective seeking.

How it works

Holistic support, for life.

The Dīwān consists of holistic support and community for Pillars alumni — five ways to stay connected, nourished, and accompanied.

01

Weekly Gatherings

Each week we gather to remember God, read a book together, and open the floor to questions with Imam Ahmad Deeb and visiting scholars.

02

Conversations with Scholars

Monthly gatherings with expert scholars on a range of topics across the tradition.

03

Mentorship with Teachers

Office hours with Pillars faculty — guidance that continues well past graduation.

04

Community Experiences

A yearly learning intensive and retreat in Malaysia, plus Pillars Pop-ups across North America for in-person gatherings with alumni.

05

A Dedicated App

A dedicated platform to keep the community connected between gatherings.

Participate

Every graduate belongs.

Every graduate of any Pillars certificate program is automatically included in our alumni community.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure the knowledge we gain is embodied and reflected in our engagement with the world through community support.
